The Inde­pen­dent Film­mak­ers Co-oper­a­tive of Ottawa Inc. (IFCO) is a cen­tre for artists who express their ideas, val­ues and expe­ri­ences using the medi­um of film. IFCO pro­vides, on a co-oper­a­tive basis; access to train­ing, facil­i­ties, equip­ment, fund­ing, infor­ma­tion resources and means to exhib­it work. IFCO aims to encour­age a crit­i­cal dis­course in and an his­tor­i­cal appre­ci­a­tion of Super 8/16mm & 35mm film, and to devel­op, sup­port and sus­tain an inno­v­a­tive and diverse Ottawa-based com­mu­nity of film­mak­ers. The Co-oper­a­tive has sup­ported the cre­ation of well over 400 inde­pen­dent Super 8, 16mm or 35mm short film pro­duc­tions by its mem­bers. IFCO pro­vides access to train­ing pro­grams (both intro­duc­tory and advanced), film pro­duc­tion equip­ment rentals, screen­ing oppor­tu­ni­ties, on-site facil­i­ties, pro­duc­tion grants (for both emerg­ing and senior-lev­el artists), and artis­tic cre­ation programs.
