Near North Mobile Media Lab (N2M2L)

The Near North Mobile Media Lab (N2M2L) is an arts col­lec­tive man­dated to pro­vide sup­port to the media arts com­mu­nity in our region of North­ern Ontario. We pro­vide access to media arts edu­ca­tion, oppor­tu­ni­ties for media arts dis­sem­i­na­tion, and sup­port to a com­mu­nity of emerg­ing and prac­tic­ing media artists. N2M2L facil­i­tates edu­ca­tional work­shops, presents exhi­bi­tions, screen­ings and fes­ti­vals, and pro­vides sup­port to our mem­ber­ship through equip­ment rentals and project assistance.

N2M2L has been sup­port­ing the cre­ation and pre­sen­ta­tion of media art in the Near North since its incep­tion in 2004. In order to over­come a fun­da­men­tal obsta­cle of region­al lim­i­ta­tion, N2M2L is ful­ly mobile with a trail­er retro­fit­ted to house pro­duc­tion equip­ment for eas­ier access around the vast land­scape between North­ern com­mu­ni­ties. N2M2L active­ly pro­motes access for all artists, regard­less of age, class, gen­der, sex­ual ori­en­ta­tion, race or abil­ity and con­tin­ues to work towards build­ing a strong and vibrant media arts com­mu­nity in the Near North that offers sup­port to artists at every lev­el of their career.
