This workshop is intended to provide an introduction to handling and preserving records, art, and digital media. Participants learn about important preservation standards and terminology relevant within media arts sector. The group will discuss practices and policy that can help improve collections management procedures and integrated preservation into organization workflows. The presentation will be accompanied by a list of resources and practical references web link.
About the instructor:
Kristie MacDonald is an archivist, artist, and writer based in Toronto, Ontario. She holds a BFA from York University specializing in Visual Art, and an MI from the University of Toronto specializing in Archives and Records Management. As an archival consultant she specializes in the areas of preservation and collections management. She has worked with arts organizations across the country including Vtape, CARFAC Ontario, SAW Video, Video Pool, Grunt Gallrey, and VIVO Media Arts Centre.
