ARCHIVING WORKSHOP WITH KRISTIE MACDONALD

This work­shop is intend­ed to pro­vide an intro­duc­tion to han­dling and pre­serv­ing records, art, and dig­i­tal media. Par­tic­i­pants learn about impor­tant preser­va­tion stan­dards and ter­mi­nol­ogy rel­e­vant with­in media arts sec­tor. The group will dis­cuss prac­tices and pol­icy that can help improve col­lec­tions man­age­ment pro­ce­dures and inte­grated preser­va­tion into orga­ni­za­tion work­flows. The pre­sen­ta­tion will be accom­pa­nied by a list of resources and prac­ti­cal ref­er­ences web link.

About the instruc­tor:
Kristie Mac­Don­ald is an archivist, artist, and writer based in Toron­to, Ontario. She holds a BFA from York Uni­ver­sity spe­cial­iz­ing in Visu­al Art, and an MI from the Uni­ver­sity of Toron­to spe­cial­iz­ing in Archives and Records Man­age­ment. As an archival con­sul­tant she spe­cial­izes in the areas of preser­va­tion and col­lec­tions man­age­ment. She has worked with arts orga­ni­za­tions across the coun­try includ­ing Vtape, CARFAC Ontario, SAW Video, Video Pool, Grunt Gall­rey, and VIVO Media Arts Centre.
